VIDEOS: Surprise, Sadness and Anger Greet the News About Thomas Healey

People around town were saddened, surprised and angered to learn that a counselor at the high school allegedly broke into a Humphrey Street house on Wednesday looking for prescription medications.

Swampscott High School counselor Thomas Healey was summonsed to court on a felony for allegedly breaking and entering a co-worker’s home.

He is scheduled for arraignment June 2 in Lynn District Court.

Officers responded to a Humphrey Street address Wednesday morning after a caller reported seeing a man enter through a window at the address.

Healey later told police that he was looking for prescription drugs. 

People said they were shocked, upset and disappointed that this incident happened.

Barbara said that we should not rush to judgment until all of the facts in this case come out.

Jeffrey said that Healey should be terminated immediately and not be allowed around schoolchildren.

Many people walking along King’s Beach Friday were saddened by the story and they hoped that something positive could come from the incident.

“It’s a good opportunity to talk to your kids about the dangers of drug abuse, and how they can make people do things they shouldn’t,” Marsha said.
