Lynch took a few minutes to talk about his former coach at Swampscott High, Stan Bondelevitch at the conclusion of the talk.

Lynch and Bondelevitch made a great team; the football team went 9-0 in 1968, 9-0 in 1969, and 8-1 in 1970. The Big Blue had a record of 26-1 during Lynch’s time in uniform.

“Stan built Swampscott football, and this is a very fitting tribute to him,” Lynch said of Bondelevitch Way, a Swampscott roadway being named after the legendary coach.

Lynch said the most important he learned from coach Bondelevitch was to never, ever, give up.

“Every kid in town wanted to play for Stan Bondelevitch from the time they were five years old until they made it to high school,” Lynch said.

Lynch had some advice for budding young journalists in town as well as praise for Bondelevitch Monday night.

“Don’t accept no for an answer, work hard, and read, read, read, good reading leads to good writing and when you’re sick of reading, read some more.”
