Versatile Athlete, Versatile Kid

Maggie Barden, 11, won the women's 18 and under category in Sunday's JCC Triathlon.

Maggie Barden was the youngest athlete to swim, bike and run in Sunday's JCC Triathlon.

The 11-year-old Swampscott Middle School student not only competed but won the women's 18-and-under category in the triathlon.

She finished the race in 1 hour 22 minutes. That's a terrific time, especially for an 11-year-old.

The time was also less than 30 minutes off the time of the overall winner.

Maggie was well prepare for her feat. She runs, swim, plays soccer and trains for triathlons.

 She is a member of the North Shore Swim Club, the B&S Fitness Junior Triathlon Team, the Swampscott Youth Soccer Association U12 Sharks Soccer Team, the Massachusetts Premier Soccer North Shore U11 Predator Soccer Team, the SMS Cross Country Team and the SMS Track and Field Team.

Whatever she does, she gives it her all, and has fun doing so.

In addition, Maggie is a High Honors student at the middle school.  

She loves to draw and hang out with her friends. 

 Maggie is a whiz kid.
