Tell Us: Swampscott Hereby Resolves To ...

What resolution would you like to see Swampscott declare and keep?

We know the routine. The resolution dance.

It starts lively. We boot bad habits, turn to good ones and leap into the year.

Calendar pages flip and some forge patterns anew — exercing daily, eating salads and spurning fatty foods or cigarettes; and some return to familiar footing and the dance reverts to old rhythms.

What about a collective resolution?

What resolution would you like Swampscott to accomplish?

Maybe it's more of something. Or less. Or a clear-cut goal.

What would it be?

What resolution would you like the town to make — and keep?

Enforce fines for dogs on beach during swimming season. Frequently finding green plastic bags of dog feces is bad enough (I mean, why bother to even pick it up at all), but seeing dogs defecating in the water where our children swim is plain disgusting. Not a fan of syringes either, so how about a beach cleanup crew? failing that, how about a volunteer beach cleanup crew?

Would you like to nominate anyone to head this volunteer beach cleanup crew? You seem like a great candidate!

On the subject of volunteer beach cleanup crew: Seems like it could be a rotating class project for all of the schools, or merit badges for scouts dens/troops. For heading it, it seems an underemployed person, or someone who is already a community organizer would be a good candidate. As a new resident, no I don't know anyone. I think I would rather pay for it, as well as algae scooping (like happens on Nahant/Lynn). Could be paid for by dog violation fines! Well...partly. A cell phone tower somewhere near the Marblehead line would generate $2000 per month for 30 years - I am sure that could be put to good use. Unsightly? Fake tree or flag pole style more unobtrusive.
