Massachusetts Residents Among Most Eager to Move, Poll Shows

Massachusetts ranked near the top of a recent Gallup poll asking if people would be willing to move to another state if given the opportunity.

Massachusetts residents are among the most eager to move elsewhere, according to a recently published Gallup Poll

Massachusetts ranks 8th on the list, with 41 percent of residents saying they would leave the Bay State if they could. Illinois, Connecticut, Maryland, Nevada, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, Louisiana and Mississippi round out the top 10.

On the other side of the coin - residents from Montana, Hawaii, Maine, Oregon, New Hampshire, Texas, Colorado, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wyoming said they were happy to stay put.

The findings are from a 50-state Gallup poll conducted between June and December 2013 and included at least 600 representative interviews with residents from each state age 18 and older.

According to poll, residents were asked: "Regardless of whether you will move, if you had the opportunity, would you like to move to another state, or would you rather remain in your current state?"

Would you move out of Massachusetts if you were given the chance? Where would you go?
