Heroes Run Proceeds Donated to Fire and Police Departments

The departments, in turn, donated a portion of the checks to the Jennifer Harris and Jared Raymond Memorial Scholarship Fund.

 

Proceeds from the 9/11 Travis Manion Foundation Heroes Run in Swampscott were awarded to the Swampscott Police and Fire Departments.

Each of the public safety departments received a check for $1,650.

One hundred and fifty runners joined the 5K run at Fisherman's Beach on Sept. 9.

Event organizer Jim Kausek of Swampscott, an Army veteran, said at the time that Travis Manion Foundation Heroes Runs were being held throughout the country and six other countries.

The organizers' goal is to never forget the sacrifices of the Heroes of September 11, 2001 — the veteran, first responder, military, and civilian.
