Girl Scouts is a value-based organization, evolving to meet the needs, challenges and interests of girls today.

The Girl Scout mission builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place, inspiring, challenging and empowering girls to discover their values, passions, and connect with others to take action to improve the world around them. Girl Scouts is open to all girls, providing an inclusive environment full of fun and friendship. Girl Scouting is flexible, through a variety of pathways, such as troops, series, events, camp and travel opportunities. Girls and volunteers can join whenever they want in a way that works best for them.

Since day one, nearly 100 years ago, Girl Scouting has been about developing leadership in girls. Founder Juliette Gordon Low assembled eighteen girls in Savannah, Georgia, on March 12, 1912, for a local Girl Scout meeting. She believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into the open air, while taking part in community service.

Continuing that trend today, we are utilizing a national, outcomes-based program designed to provide the tools and experiences needed to guide girls on a life-long path of leadership. Girl Scouts provide girl-centric programs in science, technology, business and financial literacy, health and safety, and outdoor and environmental awareness. Through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, girls develop courage to take an active role in their communities and speak out when they care about issues, the confidence to make a difference and character to act with integrity and compassion.

Girl Scouts is an affordable option for families and offers financial assistance. Consider volunteering your time and talent with Girl Scouts and make a lasting positive impact on your community. As we approach our 100th anniversary, be sure to sign up and be a part of history.
