North Shore Walk for Parkinson’s Disease

The 6th Annual North Shore Walk for Parkinson’s Disease will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012. The 3-mile walk starts at the First Church Congregational, 40 Monument Avenue in Swampscott. Registration is $25 and starts at 10 am; walk begins at 10:30 am. Free T-shirts for the first 100 walkers.

We are pleased to welcome two members from The Michael J. Fox Foundation this year. Alison Urkowitz, Vice President of Research Operations, will speak about research updates, and Miranda Lanzillotti, a Team Fox Officer, will have a table of information on Parkinson's disease.

And please join us after the walk at Unos Swampscott, 970 Paradise Road. Up to 20% of your bill will be donated to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The North Shore Walk for Parkinson’s Disease was started by the Wistran family of Swampscott in honor of Dr. Daniel Wistran, who has been battling Parkinson's disease since 1997.

All donations support The Michael J. Fox Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease within the decade. Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease — a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease.
