Dan Morgan Hooks Winning Striper in Tournament's Waning Hours
The Swampscott resident caught his fish Saturday night.
Saturday night's all right for fishing.
Dan Morgan landed his winning 36.8-pound striped bass with six hours left in the Swampscott Yacht Club's Season-Long Striped Bass Tournament, said organizer and fellow fisherman Gene O'Brien.
Dan caught his fish with live mackeral on Saturday night. The tournament started May 17.

So Dan's striper was the biggest one caught all summer by those who competed in the 7th annual tournament.
Another Dan, Dan Mazzaferro, earned second place in the tourney with a 30.65-pound striper; and Gene O'Brien took third with a 30.55-pounder.

Here are the results from two previous season-long Swampscott striped bass tournaments, in 2012 and 2011:

Norm Whitten's fish: 42 lbs. 6 oz.
Steve Speranza's fish: 42 lbs. 2 oz.
The largest striper for this season — a 34.6 pounder — was caught by Steve Speranza.
The runners-up were Paul Whitten (2nd place) and Dan Mazzaferro (3rd).
