Cohen Hillel Named a CJP Discover Day School Partner

Tuition Assistance for Jewish Day School Offered; Deadline is March 8.

Families interested in Jewish day school on the North Shore have a new tuition assistance option to consider. Cohen Hillel Academy (CHA) is now a CJP Discover Day School (DDS) partner.

Through the DDS program, families may be eligible for up to $18,000 toward day school tuition.  Participants receive up to three CJP Discover Day School Checks, each covering 25% (up to $6000), toward tuition for 2013-14 day school and the subsequent two grades. The program is targeted to middle-tier income families with children in grades K-8 who are entering day school for the first time in fall 2013. Students must be the first child in the family to attend a Jewish day school.

As CJP and the Jewish Federation of the North Shore (JFNS) move ahead with plans to merge in the upcoming months, DDS is one of many new opportunities becoming available to North Shore residents—and CHA Head of School Noah Hartman is thrilled that the Greater Boston community takes seriously the issue of day school affordability.

“DDS allows us to add another option to what we can offer families interested in sending a child to Hillel,” Hartman says, explaining that becoming a Discover Day School partner has prompted CHA to make other modifications to its financial aidtuition assistance structure to better serve the financial needs of local families. In addition to DDS and traditional needs-based financial assistance, CHA has added a new category for families with multiple children attending the school. He noted that JFNS supports CHA through the funding of scholarships and innovative programming.

CHA and other local day schools are collaborating with CJP on issues of day school affordability, and professional development for educators and administrators.

“It is exciting to be partnering with CJP and other colleagues. We can benefit from each other’s experience and expertise, and we are eager to contribute to the conversation in any way we can,” adds Hartman.

DDS Applications are due by March 8. For more information on DDS, including an eligibility calculator, visit DiscoverDaySchool.org.
