Deahn Berrini- How to Earn Your Keep- In this fast-paced character driven novel, Kit Lavoie has lost her college scholarship and is back at her seaside home north of Boston. Responsible for her childlike mother and her brother, she takes a job with a person injury lawyer. Kit willingly goes along when her boss enlists her to help snare a wealthy defendant who could make the firm millions-until the facts of the case pit Kit’s conscience against her need to make a living.

Robert Booth- Death of an Empire: The Rise and Murderous Fall of Salem, America’s Richest City- Most readers know Salem only for the city’s notorious witch trials. But years later it became a very different city, one that produced America’s first millionaire and boasted a maritime trade that made it the country’s richest city. Westward expansion and the industrial revolution would eventually erode Salem’s political importance, but it was a shocking murder and the scandal that followed which led at last to its fall from national prominence.

Megan Kelley Hall- Dear Bully- Co authored with Carrie Jones- is a critically acclaimed anthology about bullying. Today’s top authors for teens come together to share their stories about bullying—as silent observers on the sidelines of high school, as victims, and as perpetrators—in a collection at turns moving and self-effacing, but always deeply personal.

M.W. MacKay- Hope Runs Through It- M. W. MacKay’s poems are luminous with perception and grace and grounded in heart-wrenching detail. Her poetry reveals a deep connection with both the natural and spiritual worlds, touching on both with clarity and humor. But the narrative string that winds through the collection is her sometimes sorrowful, sometimes joyful, often overwhelming experience of raising a child with special needs.

Maria Mello - Bird Calls- This collection of poems received an excellent review from Small Press Bookwatch.  Marked by exquisite description and a depth of understanding, Maria Mello brings the force of a life lived fully. Rooted in the natural world and arranged in sections named for the sounds of different bird species, each grouping corresponds to a different theme- longing, discovery, loss, communion, and wisdom

Elizabeth Buechner Morris- Bitter Passage-  Frida is our guide through this historic novel which takes place during the gold rush. It is a hard-fought trip as Frida and her husband and three children join the throngs heading off  in search of gold.

James Phoenix- Frame up. This book is one of the Fenway Burke series, a collection of mystery novels.  The detective Fenway Burke is living alone and nursing his wounds from his recent divorce. A childhood friend with a shady background approaches him about clearing a man serving a life sentence for a crime his friend says he didn’t commit.
