Knitting at the Library

Knitting program at library

“Off The Shelf”

Many hobbies and crafts come in and out of favor. At the
library we try to keep a varied collection of materials to answer the needs of
most hobbyists. One craft that has recently come back into favor is knitting.
People constantly come into the library to check out knitting books. We have an
amazing collection of knitting books mostly donated to us by a member of our
knitting group. We have a group called “The Needlers” who meet weekly at the
library from 10:30 until noon. These knitters come together to share patterns
helpful hints and just great conversation. Members range from novice knitters
to highly experienced ones. A great number of the knitted goods that are
created by our “needlers" are donated to charity. Each year they decide where
the goods should be donated and then they knit away collecting beautiful hats,
mittens, socks, sweaters and blankets to give to some needy person. Newcomers are encouraged to come and join this group.
