Work Has Resumed on Lower Jackson Playground

Noteworthies from today in Swampscott.

1. Playground Notes:

Construction has resumed at the Lower Jackson playground, locayed by Swampscott High. Walkways and walls and work to the playsets should be complete in the coming weeks, said playground supporter Kevin Donaher.
"We anticipate the majority of the work will be completed by November with the grand opening in early spring 2014," Kevin said.
Bench installation and other work is expected next year. And an athletic play surface may be in the works later for the basketball half-court area.
Organizers will continue to collect recycled metal to help pay for park improvements. There will be one more recycling collection event this month and the crew will resume collections next year.

2. Weather Watch: 

Tuesday's forecast calls for a sunny day with a high temperature of 62 degrees.

Kayaks and Prams must be off the beach by Oct. 31.

Classic Car Notes:

In the wake of Sunday's rain induced postponement of the town's classic car show, it has been rescheduled for Oct. 20. The 3rd Annual Classic By The Sea Car Show sponsored by the Swampscott Recreation Department will take place, Sunday, Oct. 20, from 10AM to 2PM on Monument Avenue. About 150 cars are expected from early 20th century models to the big-fendered 50s and the muscle 60s with elegant models from throughout the years of automobile manufacturing.
