School Committee Meets Tonight on Budget and Test Reviews

Today is Tuesday, Nov. 19, and here are the five things to go with your coffee or tea:
1. Weather:
Look for sunshine this November day in Swampscott, according to the National Weather Service. Expect a high temperature in the mid-40s. Sunrise, 6:39 a.m.; high tide, 11:55 a.m.; low tide, 6:13 p.m.; and sunset, 4:17 p.m.
2. School:
The School Committee meets at 7 p.m. tonight at the high school in Room B208. Agenda items include a 2014 budget update, a 2015 budget timeline review, and a review by Principal Ed Rozmiarek of high school standard test results.
3. More School:
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the library at Swampscott High school the School Committee will be hosting a second public forum to discuss the experience, abilities and other qualities we should be seeking in our new Superintendent. All members of the Swampscott community are invited to attend the forum and to make their views known.
4. Town Government:
The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Swampscott Senior Center for a public hearing.
Petition of Hanover R.S. Limited Partnership for a use special permit, dimensional special permits, sign special permit, site plan special permit and other relief to construct 184 apartment units in two residential buildings, each four stories high, related parking, club house, and outdoor pool. Property located at 326 and 330 Paradise Road (Map 34, Lots 4 and 111) and 136 and 140 Eastman Avenue (Map 17, Lots 6B and 6D). Opportunity for members of the public to hear full presentation and pose questions in this meeting devoted solely to this one petition.
