Fire Engine Stops By Cheerleader Wash

A look at five noteworthy items for Swampscott readers on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

1. Fire Notes: 
The Swampscott Fire Department stopped by the DPW over the weekend to support the Swampscott High football cheerleaders' car wash.
The engine kept the cheerleaders busy.

3. Library Notes:
The library's afternoon book club meets the third Tuesday of the month at 1 pm. The next meeting is today, Tuesday, Aug. 20th, at 1 pm. They'll discuss The Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro. New members are welcome.

5. Town Notes:

Selectmen meet Wednesday at 7 at Town Hall. Agenda items include a vote on filling a vacancy in the police department roster; setting the water and sewer rates for the coming fiscal year;  and an executive session.
