Newsflash: high school kids sometimes drink alcohol. Happened 30 years ago when I was at SHS. The handful of burn-outs per grade were also known to have some blunts on the fire escape from time to time. Nothing new, certainly not an epidemic.

We were allowed to smoke cigs between classes in the center courtyard at SHS -- 1984-85.(now the Middle School) if there was a signed parental permission slip on file in the office. Of course the teachers all smoked in the teacher's lounge. This was an attempt to curb smoking in the bathrooms and obviously before second hand laws, etc. All the burn-out kids hung out across the street from the main driveway. At the old Junior High on Greenwood Ave the burn-outs hung out at the wall on the Greenwood Terrace side of the school.
