A historic season continues for the combined Marblehead/Swampscott High School wrestling program as senior Sean Taylor turned heads and pinned opponents on the first day of the New England championships in Providence, RI.
The Marblehead senior, who wrestles in the heavyweight division, will square off against Donovan Lozado of Chicopee, the no. 2 seed from Massachusetts today, Saturday.
On Friday, in his first match, the Marblehead heavyweight pinned John Ware of Manchester West, NH in the first period at about the one-minute mark. At the time it was the sixth fastest pin of the evening.
In his second match, those who were there to witness it said Taylor dominated Wolfgang Fiasconaro of Windham, the No. 1 seed and state champion from Connecticut. The score was 7-2 with nine seconds left in the third period when Fiasconaro left the bout with an injury.
