Town Administrator to be Part of Collective Bargaining Unit
Under the Educational Reform Act, the Town Administrator is a voting member along with the members of the School Committee to vote on all collective bargaining agreements within the School Department.
Town Administrator Tom Younger told selectmen last week he intends to join school officials as a voting member on collective bargaining agreements.
He said former town administrators did not vote on these agreements in the past, but it is allowable under the Education Reform Act.
Younger said the town and schools are not separate entities; rather, they are both Swampscott.
