Gallery: Swampscott Defeats Lynnfield 3-2 in Girls' Tennis

A cold, raw May afternoon and a forty minute delay due to Lynnfield transportation saw a bunch of chilly players match up on the Forest Avenue courts.

 

Swampscott girls' tennis defeated Lynnfield Thursday 3 matches to 2.

The win follows two others this week against Lynn Classical and Revere and puts Big Blue's record at 6-2 on the season.

Thursday was cold and raw as Big Blue defended their home court by winning all of their single matches against Lynnfield. 

Freshman Anna Raptunovich played at No. 1 and won 6-0, 6-3.

Senior Rita Tsokanis played at No. 2, winning 6-2, 6-0.

Senior Tatum Pederson played at No. 3, winning 6-4, 6-1.

Lynnfield's first doubles team won their match defeating Alicia Coyle and Danica Villanueva 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Lynnfield's second doubles team also won their match defeating the Big Blue tandem of Ashley Petras and Allegra Walker 6-2, 6-1.

Coach Niña Rogers said the team played well.

Their fine play comes ahead of a busy week of tennis that will see the Big Blue play Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Those matches are Monday at home vs. Peabody, Tuesday away against Danvers and Wednesday back home on their Forest Avenue courts against Beverly.
