Swampscott School Year to Extend to Very Latest
There have been five cancellations for four Swampscott schools and six for Hadley.
Light at the end of the tunnel for the 2012-13 school year is at the very end of the tunnel for at least four Swampscott schools: Friday, June 28.
The end of the school year for Hadley Elementary will be no sooner than June 28th.
So far, in 2012-13, the high school, middle school, Clarke and Stanley have missed five days due to cancellations; and Hadley students have missed six days — the sixth coming early in the year due to mechanical problems at the school, said school Superintendent Lynne Celli.
The superintendent said on Wednesday that to the best of her knowledge there will be no waiver for missed school days, all will need to be made up.
The superintendent was in conversations with Department of Education officials about this as recently as Wednesday, she said.
The last day for Hadley school students has yet to be decided.
"We are in discussions on how to do it," she said.
But to the best of her knowledge the school will have to make up all six days.
Students may not make up school days once the new 2013-14 school year starts, Monday, July 1.
So all make-up days must be completed before Monday, July 1.

Is it possible to make up some of the days during the April break?

Apparently they are making up Hadley's 6th day on Friday April 19th. Just got an email from the Extended Day Program to notify that there is no Extended Day Program that day. Would have been nice to have received official notification from the Lame Duck Superintendent first. I think they only thing she's doing from now on is taking her pay check to the bank every week.
