Selectmen to Consider iPads

The goal would be to reduce paper and printing costs.

Selectman Barry Greenfield proposed at the last board meeting that he receive all the paperwork for the board's meeting on his computer and thus save the cost of printing the material on paper.

Town Administrator Thomas Younger said when he was interim manager at the town of Ipswich that the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee there used iPads and cut the cost of printing significantly.

The Swampscott Board of Selectmen seemed interested in pursuing the use of iPads and save the cost of printing.

I think it's a great idea but due to there are many great tablets that aren't as expensive. The Google Nexus 7 tablet is an amazing option for half the price: https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_7_32gb&feature=microsite&hl=en

Yes they don't have to buy IPADs, they can get cheaper versions and with blue tooth and hot spot applications available for most new printers. They can print a document when needed or use a smart board.
