Construction on the new police station is expected to resume March 5.

The building project awaits the pumping station — located on the same property — returning on line and removal of the temporary by-pass, Acting Town Administrator David Castellarin said.

The by-pass was installed late last year after a major system failure flooded the station with sewerage.

So far, some initial excavation has been completed at the 531 Humphrey St. site.

Pat Jones of the Police Station Building Committee said the police station project has been in a holding pattern this winter.

The contractor, TLT Construction, pulled back from construction because the company did not want to risk damaging the nearby sewer system by-pass.

The temporary line is above ground and prominent, vulnerable to damage.
