Middle School Hockey A Force
The team is 14-1 with one game remaining.
The 14-1 Swampscott Middle School hockey team will put a period on their strong season when they play their final game Tuesday against Winchester.
The 27 Swampscott players were a raw group months ago when practices started, said Coach Gino Cresta.
But in time, they jelled.
Instead of everyone chasing the puck, they learned to play positional hockey, team hockey, the coach said.
Coach Dan Santanelllo said the team has been led by 8th graders.
Jackson Allard, Noah Mackerlein, Devin Wall, and Peter Doyle play up front while
Dante Ceccarelli and EJ Palleschi have been guarding the blue line on
defense.
Tristan Bradley has been immense between the pipes for
Swampscott, he said.
"This is an extremely strong group," Cresta said.
Does it bode well for the varsity hockey program at Swampscott High?
That's the million dollar question, Coach Cresta said.
There are talented players on the middle school team. If they attend Swampscott High it would bode well for the program.
The Middle School team is coached by Gino Cresta, Ed Palleschi, Paul
Garcelon and Dan Santanello.
