Letter to the Editor: Strauss For Selectman

Matt Strauss of the Board of Selectmen seeks voters support.

To The Editor:

Hello my name is Matthew Strauss and I am the Chairman of the Swampscott Board of Selectmen. I am asking for your support as I run for re-election.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the residents of our town for the last three years and I am excited about the opportunity to serve for another term.
Some accomplishments during my first term include;

  • Supported joining the GIC health care plan for town employees lowering our towns cost for health care and saving the town over $900,000 in the first year.
  • Rejecting the first bid for the old temple property as inadequate which turned into accepting the following year’s bid and securing over $1,000,000 in additional sale price for our town.
  • Leading the Board of Selectmen through the process of selecting a new Town Administrator

The Swampscott Patch recently published a Q&A with the candidates that demonstrates my understanding of Swampscott’s finances and shows examples of how to reduce costs through such initiatives as a central business office and regional partnerships:

Please help ensure a productive transition with the new Town Administrator Mr. Tom Younger and for another term of dedicated leadership based on experience.
When you cast your vote on Tuesday April 24, 2012, please vote
Matthew Strauss for Board of Selectmen.

“ELECT A LEADER”

Thank You.
