Then and Now asked when? What year was this photograph taken? The contestant whose answer came closest to the correct answer was Whisky Wolinsky.

Whisky said 1888. The answer is 1885.  Congratulations Whisky.

The photograph shows the ocean side of King's Beach. Notice the white cat in the lower right, standing between the buildings.

The man is standing between two restaurants, according to the Swampscott Historical Society. To his left is Rick Carey's Restaurant and on the other side is Granger's Restaurant.

We'll also keep the Then and Now feature going by posting another photograph of a historic house or location on the following Monday.

Thanks to the Swampscott Historical Society for letting up post their photograph.

This contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 and older. To enter, just submit your answer in the comments section below. All entries must be received by midnight tonight, Eastern Time. Readers may only offer one answer per week. The winner will receive a $5 gift card to a local business.
