As much as half of Grown Ups 2 could be shot in Swampscott. The other half in Marblehead.

At least that's what Dave Castellarin, Swampscott's acting town administrator, has been told.

Both towns will be the setting for a fictitious New England town. Stanton is a name under consideration.

Expect to see Swampscott transformed by Hollywood's wonder machine.

A small section of the Swampscott Cemetery — near the Public Works garage — may be cleared and turned into a backyard with an indoor pool, the town administrator said.

At least one scene is envisioned for the Swampscott Train Station.

And you may see a police officer played by Shaquille O'Neil directing traffic near Burrill Street and Railroad Avenue. As well as a scene with a gigantic tire rolling down the street.

Cast members for the movie include Adam Sandler, David Spade, Taylor Lautner, Salma Hayek, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph and Rob Schneider, according to IMDb.

Shooting is expected to start the first week in May and continue through Aug. 9.

The town administrator has traveled around town with location managers for Columbia Studio.

Movie representatives will tour additional sites in town this week including the former Temple property, which they are interested in using for parking, he said.

The town would receive payment for its use, the town administrator said.

If the movie makers decide to use the cemetery location, their improvements to the site — moving off site the stored fill there— would be worth about $100,000 to the town, Public Works Director Gino Cresta said.

In any event, Hollywood's arrival will again stir excitement in the seaside town.

"I think it's great," said Castellarin, musing on the Swampscott/Hollywood connection.

This is the second year in a row that Swampscott will roll out a red-carpeted welcome mat. Last year it was for Mark Walhlberg and Mila Kunis who shot scenes here for the movie Ted.

But Grown Ups 2 sounds like it will be a much bigger and longer shoot.

Grown Ups 2 is a follow-up to Grown Ups, about the reunion of childhood friends.

For information on being an for information.

Speaking of childhood, Adam Sandler grew up in Manchester, NH where he attended Central High School.

He has given four commencement speeches at Central.

Grown Ups 2 is projected for release in July 2013, according to IMDb.
