Global War on Terror Monument Under Construction

Organizers are seeking any additional names or corrections before the veterans' names are placed on the monument.

 


The Swampscott Global War on Terror monument committee is proud to announce that our GWOT monument is currently under construction and is scheduled to be dedicated on Veterans Day, 11 November 2012. 

To the end the Swampscott Veterans Service Officer is working on comprising a complete and accurate list of all Swampscott residents who are serving now or have served during the Global War in Terror for inclusion on our GWOT monument.

We are seeking the full correct spelling of the above listed names including middle initials, as well as the names of any other residents who have served a minimum of 180 consecutive days on active duty or were activated for any length of time in support of and deployed to the area of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, during the time period of 11 September 2001 to the present date, have received an Honorable Discharge and were Swampscott residents a the time of their entry in to the U.S. military. 

Any additions or corrections should be forwarded to: Veterans' Services, 22 Monument Ave., Swampscott, MA 01907. 

For those who are not currently on active duty, a DD-214 will be required as proof of service prior to inclusion on this list.

Shannon Crowley's name is not on the list and I believe she is active duty Navy. Someone should check.

Shout Out to Shannon Crowley of the USN or a family member. Contact Veterans Service Officer Jim Schultz at (781) 596-8853 or vetagent@swampscott.town.ma.us to see to it that Shannon's name is placed on the town's Global War on Terror Monument to be dedicated Nov. 11.
