DPW Director Gino Cresta reports that four local roads include sections that still remain unpassable.

The town's drinking water is safe to drink as it was not impacted by the flooding, he said.

The town pumping station, relying on a by-pass system since last week's wastewater flooding, is running at full capacity but is holding out, he said.

Maylor says there could be millions of dollars of damage to homes in town.

He has called in the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency to document damage.

Representatives are expected to be in town this afternoon to survey the flood and other storm impacts and meet with town officials.

The town administrator is hopefull that federal and state dollars will be released to help residents and the town recover from the storm damage.

Firefighters, police officers and DPW crews have been working since the flash floods hit early this morning causing major flooding and traffic problems.

He urged those who must head out to use caution.

The roads that still have flooding include Humphrey at the Fish House area, Paradise by the DPW garage, by Elmwood and by the Swampscott Mall, as well as Burrill Street by the train station.

The pumping station is holding out.

The director checked the station most recently at 10 am. He said it was still holding.

The station was flooded last week due to mechanical problems.

There is severe flooding on Essex, Middlesex and Burrill, Cresta said.

"You name it, it's all over town," he said.
