Elements Therapeutic Massage Celebrates Relaxation

The new business hosted an open house late last week.

Elements Therapeutic Massage is comfortable in its new home at Vinnin Square Plaza.

So aren’t its customers.

At Thursday’s open house, visitors enjoyed wine, cheese and free chair massages.

Ed Savage had a headache before he stopped in.

Fifteen minutes in a chair in a quiet room with soft colors, lighting and music loosened his neck and shoulder muscles and lowered the volume on his headaches, he said.

Licensed massage therapist Laura Coleman, 28, of Swampscott said giving massages relaxes her as well.

“I feel rejuvinated when I give a massage,” she said, “it’s such a calming atmosphere.”

Coleman, a Swampscott High graduate, studied massage therapy in a year-long program at the Cortiva Institute in Watertown.

She works part-time at Elements and part-time as a pre-school teacher.

Elements has seven massage rooms in which its 13 licensed massage therapists offer a variety of therapeutic massage techniques including Swedish, deep tissue, and trigger point massage, said owner Janice Kilburn.

Elements also offers prenatal massage and massage for couples.

Elements is open 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

The business has been well received in Swampscott, since opening March 12, Kilburn said.

Elements is offering a 55-minute, full-body massage for $49, she said.

Leslie Gould of the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce was at Thursday’s open house and said the new business adds a new dimension to the Vinnin Square plaza, lending it a variety of shopping opportunities and services.

Also at the open house was Edward Palleschi of Swampscott, director of business development for Community Credit Union.

He said massage will help people feel better especially in these difficult economic times.

“In this economy (people) are stressed and can come down and get a massage,” he said.
