Traffic light repair on Humphrey

Ben Cormier of Swampscott High sent us this nice shot of a firefighter reinforcing a dangling traffic light in the center of town early this afternoon.

The light is at the intersection of Humphrey and Redington Streets.

Swampscott fire Chief Kevin Breen said the light was hanging from its mount, the result of a plow truck strike.

The signal was still secure, fastened by a safety chain.

About 1 p.m., the firefighters added some wire to the rig giving it more strength and stability.

Later in the afternoon, the company responsible for repairing the traffic signal took it down for repairs.
