Columbia Pictures & Town Finalize Phillips Park Deal

The town will receive $28,000 for renting space to the makers of Grown Ups 2, money that will be used for field improvements.

 

A contract between the town and Columbia Pictures exchanges land use for field improvements.

The town gets $28,000 worth of field improvements.

The was between the movie makers and town officials — Town Administrator Tom Younger and Recreation Director Danielle Strauss.

The $28,000 breaks down like this: $10,000 for the court space; $15,000 for the soccer field and $3,000 to park a catering truck in front of the field house, said the recreation director.

Grown Ups 2 will start filming inside its sound stage at in the next week or so. They are expected to film there through the end of July.

The movie makers will pitch a large tent on the tennis courts to feed cast and crew from Grown Ups 2. They will use field house parking space for a catering truck, the town administrator said.

And they are already using the soccer field to practice movie stunts.

The stunt crew has been at work in the fenced section of soccer field for about two weeks. The field is located next to the sound stage.

Younger said earlier that the tennis court proposal was a nice financial (opportunity) for the .

The other parts to the agreement arose later during talks between the two sides.

The town has yet to announce what the field improvements will entail.
