Boys and Girls Track Celebrate Superb Seasons

Coaches passed out awards at their banquet in the high school cafeteria.

Swampscott track coaches Joe Tenney and Peter Bush submitted information for this article.

Girls Team

The banquet went off great as always and thanks to Kerin Walsh, Jude Shanahan, Meg Meagher and Val Grimes along with anyone else that I may have missed.

It was a continuation of a great week after beating a very well coached and well run Marblehead team.

This was my first win vs them and first in many years. How can a season get better than winning our first NEC Championship, a back-to-back freshman/sophomore championship, beating our rival for not only my first time but Swampscott’s first since the late 80's/early 90’s.

Again, I would like to thank the coaching staff of Peter Bush, Deems Hatch, Mark D'Amico, Derek Stevens, Justin Fucile and Ralph Souppa without these guys we wouldn't have had such a great staff and amazing season.

Also, the girls season was awesome and they were patient with the extension of a looooong season.

I would also like to thank my senior girls Carley Hayes, Danielle Goldman, Brianna Moschella, Nicole McDermott, Sarah McLeod, Michaela Jancsy, Casey Shanahan, Hannah Rosen and Jillian Hebert for some of the best four years with nine amazing ladies.

Good luck in college and hope to see you again. You will be missed. The food was also great thanks to Periwinkles.
