Big Blue Comes Back to Win Sectional Finals, 3-2

Two thing about Big Blue hockey: they never give up; and they have a flair for the dramatic.

Junior Nunzio Morretti is hidden behind three Bedford defenders, but he can see that his shot has slid across the goal line with five second left to give Swampscott a 3-2 win over Bedford and the Division III North title.

Chris Carman's wrist shot tied the game 2-2 with two minutes 13 seconds to play in the Div. 3 North Sectional finals Saturday in Stoneham.

Then, with 6 seconds remaining, Nunzio Morretti nailed the game winner against Bedford.

Trevor Massey got Big Blue's first goal, putting them up 1-0 in the second period.

The goal sent Swampscott to the Frozen Four of the Div 3 hockey championships. And it sent Swampscott fans at the Stoneham ice arena into delirium.

Again, Big Blue won. And again, it was in dramatic fashion.

They jetted to the finals with a dramatic win over arch-rival Marblehead in the Div. 3 North Sectional semi-fianls last week. Corey Carmody scored with two minutes remaining in the game, putting Swampscott up 2-1 before they added two open netters.

Check in with Swampscott Patch on Sunday for more game coverage.
